"Great value and easy to use. I find it to be a bit bulkier that other stoves because it doesn't fold down. Boil times are fast, would be faster but I am afraid to use it on full blast. It does tend to make chugging noises as it runs. Not that great of fuel economy, but great for 2 to 3 day trips. Simmer feature is AWESOME."

"This stove is a bit on the bulky side, but simmers fine. The chugga-chugga sound didn't bother me, and once lit it adjusted nicely to either a boil or a simmer.

That said, I've had several experiences with Coleman Apex stoves flaring up. After extinguishing them, we always troubleshot, and each time found nothing...no fuel leaks, no clogs. Still don't know what caused that. I ended up buying an MSR."

"This stove has never worked well for me. After much tinkering I finally got it to light, but the unit has never had much of a flame. Unit is unreliable - I don't know when it is going to light or not. Would not recommend.

As a side, Coleman's customer service is disappointing. After waiting on the phone 45 minutes, I had to pull teeth to get the service specialist to help me.

2 stars... because it has actually lit."

"Have had this stove for many years and has performed well... flare up mentioned in other reviews is probably because gas was too high before stove warmed up... it will burn yellow when cold and then a tight blue flame when warmed up... most liquid fuel stoves must have fuel pipe hot to burn correctly... (must be primed, just like msr stoves). It is bulkier than some fold up stoves but was less money also. Only leaks were due to aging o-rings, which were easily replaced."

"I've had my Apex I for about 7 years now and have been extremely happy with it. The only things I have had to replace are the plastic washer on the inside of the pump (snapped with some over-vigorous pumping - my fault) and the occasional o-ring on the bottle.

Other than that, it starts like a dream - yellow flame for about 20sec and then to a nice blue flame after. I also bought a windshield for it and this has noticeably improved the already great boil times.

I would buy this stove again for sure....."
