"MH doesnt make this tent anymore. So, you may find one for less cost than when they came out. As for weather resistance, MH has a pretty good reputation. My approach has seen hail storms and terential rain storms without issue. I use it for solo, and I typically squeeze my pack in with me over night. I do seem seal it every other year or so. One aspect one must consider in the weight to comfort ratio is stability. Try pressing down on the top of a lighter tent ( hubba Hubba), and you will see that a falling branch just may break your tent and harm you. I think the approach is solid built. I however, do like the side entrance tents better, but they where not as avaliable when i bought the Approach. The SD Lightning looks interesting, and it is stable when i checked it out at the store. But, It doesnt get good reviews for venting and storm conditions. I need a tent that can take serious weather conditions, the Approach has not let me down in many yaers of use. I do not see anything better yet. I wont trade in for a few ounces and then get wet."

"Very nice tent, i wasn't mine but thats ok, i wish it was i just dont have the money. it is a little expensive. great solo tent, not much room for gear. due to the price i would only advise hardcore hikers to buy it, but if you are really hardcore tarps are the way to go for 3-season packing. But if your rich go for it. the price is the main reason i wouldnt buy it."

"Bought it;money=fun, the tent couldn't be more for less fabric.
don't even notice it in the pack(LESS-THAN five Ibs.) love the wasabi color fly.
Mesh windows look like the Sydney opera house. GET OUT DOORS! GREAT TENT!!!"

"It rained and sleeted over an inch one evening on the north rim of the grand canyon, and I was the only person in our party whose tent kept the water out. I love the way this tent performs, but I'm usually hiking solo, and I'm looking for lighter options."
