"Great little light weight tent. 2 pounds 13 ounces. The top and sides are mesh so it makes a great summer tent. Only uses one pole and it must be staked down. It has a door on each side. Comes with a vestibule which has good coverage over both doors. Costs around $70."

"splendid little tent. packs the size of a pair of female sneakers, or splits into two parts each the size of one shoe. spacious and light for one, cozy for two, kept me warm over several 23 degree nights, rode ceaseless gulf coast winds without a flutter. dirt cheap, too. what's not to love?"

"A great tent; warm, light, small packing. There is only one problem with this tents and that is that it takes about 5 mins to put up. (a little longer than most) but I don't mind. Sleeps 2 people comfortably. with 2 9.8 cubic
feet vestibules, you can put all your gear outside!
It has 2 doors, one on each side, so you don't have to climb ove your buddy to get out. I give this one 5 stars!"

"I really like this tent!!! After an all night downpour, it was bone dry in the morning! It is a perfect stargazer. The miniscule weight split between 2 folks made it almost unnoticable in my pack.
With a tarp erected over one of the vestibules (a sort of "porch")-it makes the perfect shelter.
The best part - besides being dry - I bought it at wal-mart for 80 dollars!!!"

"I am a Eagle scout, and I go backpacking a lot. This tent makes the best backpacking tent. It is lightweight and dirtcheap. I really recommend this tent for any who are looking for a new tent to buy. If only it was free-standing, it would be the "perfect" tent. I give it 4 stars."

"I like this tent because of it's weight, it is cool in the summer and warm when it is cool. The vestibules are fairly big, about enough room for a pack... It rolls up about the size of a junior foot ball and is a very light tent. Has a very nice overhead storage sleeve for items and on those wet nights it is big enough to sit up in. It is suppose to be a 2 man tent but I can not see how two men can fit in it... Yet my son and I fit comfortably in it.

Only draw back I see is the floor is coated and where it is tape seamed around on the floor of the tent is starting to look like it is coming off so I re sealed the entire tent.

All in all, my preference in a tent for myself."

"This is a great tent and I highly recommend it to the parents of youth who are just starting out backpacking. The tent is inexpensive and lightweight, but has held up under varied conditions for the last few years without problems. This tent is good for two kids can fit in the tent without any problem, but it is too small for two adults."

"Bought mine for solo backpacking. Used it once thus far.

Positives:
- ultra-light (4 pounds)
- dry - no leaks during rain
- compact when packed
- sitting head room
- plenty of floor space for one
- excellent storage space in vestibules
- two side doors provide excellent access
- inexpensive

Negatives:
- would be tight for two
- the mesh is not very robust unless you care (not a mjoe problem.

Summary:

I recommend this tent. It appears to be an outstanding solo tent and a great value."

"This tent is great. Perfect for solos, wonderful for a pair that doesn't mind getting close (like my wife and I), this tent is compact, lightweight, inexpensive, sturdy, and easy to set up. My wife and I have used it in rainy weather from a tropical storm in Dolly Sods, WV and as a stargazer in the Spruce Knob - Seneca Creek Backcountry. We use one side as entry, the other as a closet for my pack. Her pack fits behind our heads. I've never had a problem with leakage or condensation, but I seal the seams each year and vent properly. Only one drawback: requires stakes. But this has yet to be a problem as I never camp on boulders or frozen ground."

"I have owned the Peak 1 Cobra for 4 years and it is the tent I use the most. in fact, I use it almost exclusively in Summer through Fall.

The tent is very rain worthy, though some care is advised when opening the fly for entrance or exit. The fly hangs at a slope directly over each door. Speaking of the fly, there are two vestibule 9.5 sq. ft. each side. This tent is slightly cramped for two but wonderful for one person.

At just under 4 lbs., a very small pack size, and a sub $100.00 price tag, this tent is very hard to beat!"

"Great tent at any price. Light weight. I've used similar weight tents at 4 times the price that didn't do anything more for me that the Cobra does. I've backpacked in Arizona almost every month for 4 years with the Boy Scouts. I've slept comfortably from -17 to 80 degrees. Of coarse, miserably from 80 - 100 degrees. I had no problem with my tent with 1 foot of wet snow and 2 foot of dry snow on top. We had pole failure on a $250 tent.
The tent did great in a monsoon storm with 60 mph gusts and 3 inches of rain in 1 hour. The thunder was deafening. Staking out the vestibule is a must.
Having door access from both sides is the best. In the mountains you can rarely set up on level ground. I can always set with my head uphill and have access.
The downside of the tent is that it is not free standing. I carry masonry line to tie it to rocks or other objects when I can’t drive all the stakes. I also bought fiberglass stakes. They are lighter and tougher than the factory stakes."

"I've had my cobra for 4 years and it works great and was inexpesive . I've used it mostly for me and my 8 yo son (who is now 11) from local hikes in so cal to week longs in other places. we however have out grown it now (im 6'3 270 son 5'7 148) the tent is good for average size people or 1 big person and a small person or kid but if your I big or tall peson it is a one man deal. also I would hate to have to spend more than a day in it its just to small"

"I just finished a 100 mile jaunt on the Appalachian trail, and we used the cobra the whole time. On several occaisons it stormed all night, but we never had any problems with the tent. I currently have a considerable amount of credit with the North Face, yet I don't see that they have any offerings that top the cobra weight wise, and quality wise who could ask for more?"

"i have had this tent for 4 years now and have ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING wrong with it. its held up in killer colorado rains, hails, snows, and winds. its been on over 200 miles of backpacking and to several differant states, including Moab, UT. great for stargazing, lightweight, and can pack extremely small. didnt like the stock stakes went and bought north face titanium stakes and am extremely pleased. i reccomend this tent to anyone who doesnt want to spend to much money but get a superior performing 3 season tent"
