"I'm so thrilled with this boot that I felt compelled to write and give something back to the online community. This is my first season with the TPS 520 GV boot and I've been everywhere from 14,000' in Colorado's San Juan Moutains to the red rock of Arches National Park to the old boulders of New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest and in all weather conditions, dry to soaking wet. The boots performed flawlessly, sticking landing jumping boulder to boulder to cross streams, to gripping the rock while the rain poured down. All the while my feet were dry, comfortable, and well supported -- as was the ankle I sprained earlier in the year playing volleyball. This was the most money I ever paid for boots (on sale for $172) and they are worth every penny. The problems I had with knee and lower leg pain while hiking for the past two seasons is completely gone. The boots are a lot cheaper than surgery! My only complaint is rubbing on my left toe only while on long descents. Because my right toe and foot is fine, I can only attribute this problem to the fact that my left toe has a fused joint and does not bend in the middle. Thank you Asolo for a fantastic product! I only hope that I can have them resoled in 5 years or so as I won't want to give them up."

"I also dominate this boot! I love the stability that the footbed provides. The heel-2-toe action of the internal tri-pad power distribution bar helps propels the foot forward. I paid an arm and a leg for them here in southern Ontario, but that is because there is not a lot of high end gear shops, other than MEC. Contrary to popular belief, the upper of this boot remains stiff but at the same time provides more than average ankle support. I suppose a sloppy upper doesn't lend to good support...I wish Asolo would include directions for replacing the sole if it should wear out because we all know a good boot always will outlast the tread. Its like doing the tires on your car when they wear out. I really do like them a lot and if anyone is ever wavering about buying them cause they are friggin' expensive, just buy them! They are worth every stupid dollar they ask for them!"

"I purchased these boots about a month ago and I am very pleased with them. I took them on a five mile hike with steep rocky terrain and they performed excellently. Very comfortable out of the box, no break-in necessary. My only complaint is the lack of toe guards, as mine are pretty scuffed up from only one hike. Great boot though, worth the money."

"I love these boots too. I anticipated a long break in period because they are so solid and well put together, but they felt great right out of the box. The performance is off the charts. I\'ve been too much of a tight wad to spend so much on boots in the past but let me tell you it\'s well worth the extra money for these. The only draw back I can see is they are on the heavy side and get a bit hot in the summer. But that is way more than offset by the extreme positives about them.

To the previous reviewers: I emailed Asolo and they gave me the name of a couple places they recommend to get them resoled. It cost $75."

"I would have swore the best boots in the world were my 520 Goretex, until I got a pair of TPS 520's. My feet are so happy whenever I put them on. Hundreds, and I mean hundreds, of miles through NH's White Mountains and they're still ready to go tomorrow. I clean and spray them often, and after two years they look like new. My issue now is trying to find someone to resole them. I have hiked most of tread off of them, but the uppers have about a 1000 miles to go."
