"Another unnecessary luxury? I don't think so!
On long trips, the 'camp chair envy'
phenomenon can end lifelong friendships;
so keep your friends and get your own chair!

I have two: a Long Kit for my full-length
pad and a 'Lite Chair Kit' for my 3/4 length
pad. The long kit is nice because you don't
have to take the pad out of the chair kit,
just undo two fastex buckles, and you're
reclining. It also does away with the need
for a stuffsack, since the chair kit protects
the pad, and it also includes two fastex
straps to secure the pad when closed. It
makes for a great system when weight is
not a big issue. When weight is an issue, I
take my 3/4 length Ultra Lite and chair kit so
I can cause chair envy in the most remote
environments. I'll trim the tags from
my underwear, but no way will I leave behind
my chair kit!"

"Every time I go backpacking with some one new they always want to use my chair kit. I would let them try it for a few minutes and then they dont want to get out. A must have item."

"It might not be strictly necessary, but it sure is comfy. After a long day hiking, your purist friend will attempt to look comfortable while sitting on a rock or log, moving every few minutes to keep the blood flowing, and insisting that you are soft. But are you phased? Absolutely not, because you're reclining in splendor, watching the sunset and sipping from your flask of choice. Decadent? Hell yes."

"I have the cheap version...and love it...(even if I have to take it on and off between sleeping and sitting

My friend has the $$$ one. He never has to take it off, just unsnap it...and it's a sleeping pad...which leaves me with chair/lazyness envy...the problem with this, is that someone always tries to steal it from you when you get up"

"This is a luxury item, that I consider necessary after a 10-15 mile backpack. While others are sitting on the cold hard ground or rocks, I'm lounging in my easy chair. I don't have the snap on kit, but love this all the same. I often times will take a quick nap lounging in it at the camp fire, when others are wanting to get in their tents to be comfortable. Oh, one piece of advice. Don't ever let anyone sit it, you'll have to fight to get it back."

"I hate to spoil the party but, I am less than impressed with it. Not comfortable in my opinion. I'd rather save some weight (11 oz.) and just sit on my pad."

"I stick with the concensus. After hiking all day on a cold day my wife and I just leaned back and relaxed with warm cheeks while everyone else had to lean on there hands and sit indian style. We picked em' up @ Cabelas for $25.
In case of an emergency you can use the rods in it for a splint. Just a thought."
