"I write this because I saw no articles on Timberland boots. In fact, very few hiking stores push them as a hiking/backpacking product. I have a pair of Timberland Eurohikers, and I am as satisfied with them as I have been with any product. These boots have 2 variations. First, there is the common Eurohiker, made of all leather on the outside. This is the kind I see people wearing all the time -- they're trendy and all. There's also another kind of Eurohiker. They have a leather and canvas-type exterior, and a Gortex lining. They are completely comfortable, and completely waterproof. The gortex on the inside is done so well that once, when I had dunked my whole foot in water up to my knees, filling the boot with water, the lining pulled most away from my foot. An few minutes over a fire, a fresh pair of socks, and I was ready to go with dry feet.
They break in inside of three or four trips and become unbelievably soft. I have burned them twice near fires, once on one of belllows tongues, and once on the sole, and it has affected them in no way other than minor cosmetics.
Then, there's the company. I have never seen a company so deserving of praise for customer service as Timberland. I bought a pair of their boots, 3/4 cut and waterproof, for hiking. The boots were pretty, but not designed for the rough creek and river trails I hike. I knew this not, however, and after three trips, small places in the stitching seemed to be on their way to coming undone. I called the company and explained the situation. Since a salesperson, unaffiliated with them, had advised me wrong, and both pairs of boots cost the same ($150), they told me to simply mail them the old pair. They traded me my new pair of Eurohikers even for the other ones. I was impressed, and since then have re-purchased the first pair because they are, as I said, pretty and really reliable (even completely waterproof and gortex lined) in their own right. That speaks a lot of their service, though."

"i bought a pair of eurohikers in 1993 for a 5 day backpacking trip. they lasted through that and many many many trips more, as well as everyday wear. in 1996 i went on a canoe trip and it rained every day, and i wore them through wet muddy portages and my feet stayed totally dry. i would still be wearing them today if my mom hadn't thrown them out. for the price, they are a great, durable, comfortable pair of lightweight boots."

"This boot may be pushed as a hiking boot, but in reality this boot is only good if your hiking around the mall. I wore them on several hikes a few years ago before I knew any better. The soles (not Vibram of course) wore out in no time and I found myself slipping all over the moderately sloped trails. The soft upper and ankle of the boot is also too soft and flexible to provide real support when carrying a heavy pack. Yes they are a very trendy and good looking pair of boot. But don't make the same mistake I did and buy these boots for the backcountry."

"Well i got a pair of these underrated boots back in 98 and they only just met their maker in the last month (mid 05). Six and half years and in all this time they have yomped through se asian jungles and rainforests, dusty north african deserts, worked on construction sites, in spain, england and the canaries, AND even an oil refinery twice. The soles are hardly worn really and they display none of the usual drawbacks that 90% of my other footwear suffer from, which is quite uneven wear on the inside of the sole, and that fact alone is amazing to me, as it seems I spend 100's each year on new rides...I weigh more than 90kg too, so they went through hell in their long leathery lives. When the nubuck got grubby, i polished em up for an hour or two and out came the true quality of the leather, something i recommend doing to a brand new pair actually. Six and half years. Call eurohikers trash if you want to, but try to wreck em and you'll be trying for a while."

"I love these boots. I recieved a pair my 9th grade year of HS. My sister and I both would share the same pair boots. They were on someones feet at least 4 days of every week. Plus weekends most if the time. They lasted me all 4 years of HS. After graduation (1999)I gave them to my sister and got a new pair which I still am wearing today in dec of 2005."
