Description
1100 feet of consistent elevation gain over 1.9 (one way - up) miles to Heather Lake. Trails has lots of character, some sections groomed real nice with steps and boardwalks, other sections cut through twisted roots and creek like rock beds. Hot day, you're gonna sweat, but trail is under heavy tree cover, lots of shade, some old growth forest too. Surprisingly beautiful lake, easy to get too, close to town. Bring water proof shoes/boots if the trail is wet. There are 3 or 4 tent sites, but when we went it was raining and they were all terribly wet/soaked areas. It seems to be a very shallow lake, so I wonder (dought) that swimming would be much fun.

Directions to Hike
About 1 mile past Verlot ranger station, right, about 1.3 miles up Mt. Pilchuck Rd to trailhead.
