Description
A beautiful, alpine wilderness. Numerous switchbacks make for a fairly arduous hike. Worth the effort. Snow Lake is exactly that; fed by pure snow pack, Snow Lake is a pure, pristine blue. Gem Lake is accesible through the Snow lake area and is an excellent day hike. The peaks around Snow Lake are reminiscent of the Swiss Alps. Snow lake is heavily traveled, especially during spring and summer, but is still incredible (but wet and cold) during the fall and winter. A definite must for a day hike or weekend backpacking trip.

Directions to Hike
Go to the Snowqualmie Summit Ski area. From there, go to the Alpental Ski area parking lot (left side of freeway). The trailhead leaves on the right, rear corner of the parking lot, opposite the face with the ski lifts on it.
