Description
This is such a peacefull, enjoyable hike, it's hard to believe it's so close to a paved road. In fact, it's such a nice little hike you won't mind that the return trip is along the same trail (3.5 miles up, 3.5 back). There are 3 magnificent waterfalls along this stretch of the Lewis River. The trail begins at Lower Falls (my favorite), passes Middle Falls midway, and ends at Upper Falls. The water is cold & clear, and the forest is quiet & damp here even on the warmest summer days.
Rating: easy
Elevation gain: 500 ft
Open: all year

Directions to Hike
Take I-5 to Woodland (25mi N of Portland). Follow signs for Mt. ST. Helens for 46.7 mi. Continue on what becomes Road 90 to Lower Falls Recreation Area. Park in picnic area by the restrooms. This is also a campground if you want to stay longer.

Contact Information
Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, 6926 E Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98668 (360-750-5000)
