Description
A beautiful hike in Old Growth surroundings. Moderately difficult terrain but easily navigated by beginners, the trail is well maintained for the first mile. After that, there are numerous small washouts, fallen trees, Log Bridges, exposed roots and narrow ledges. At 1.25 miles is a beautiful waterfall, a small path leads to the river for closer viewing. At 2 miles is another water fall, somewhat smaller, but very scenic. Most of the trail is covered by a thick canopy of moss covered Cedars, there are many partially open views of the Boulder River and access to the river at the 4 mile point.
Vertical gains are numerous in the first 2 miles of the hike as there are plenty of gentle to moderate climbs, followed immediately by gradual partial descents. Overall, the inbound hike gains approximately 850 feet. Round trip hike time is around 4 hours for the average hiker. Pack ample water and food, numerous stops to view the scenery will extend the hike.
A restroom facility is provided approximately 2 miles before the trail-head. No Mountain bikes are permitted but leashed pets are welcome.

Directions to Hike
From I-5, take the Arlington-Sylvania Exit (208).
Proceed east on Hwy 530 for approximately 20 miles to Mile Marker 41. Right turn onto French Creek road, leading to access road 2010. Follow the (bumpy) gravel road for 3.8 miles to the trail head. Adequate parking for about 50 cars. Several camp sites at the trails end.
