my son and i hiked the trail last year(05) and loved it so much we are doing it again this year(06). it is all up or down hill, but worth the sweat to see again and again. views are spectacular. from alpine woods to rock ridges and river valleys it is a great hike. the bugs on the west and south side are thick at times, have bug spray. when you go through berkley park, wear a hat and sunglasses. expect to wake up to frost anytime you are camping at 5000ft or above. drink lots of water to keep hydrated, and eat a good breakfast(high carb). your legs will scream for mercy at times during this hike, but it is worth the pain to do at least once in your life.

Directions to Hike
from tacoma, wa drive south on I5 to the puyallup/mt rainier exit, hwy 512 east, go to the pacific hwy/ (hwy7), mt rainier exit and go south on hwy7 to the nisqualie enterance to mt rainier national park(about an hours drive from tacoma) and go to longmeier, inside the park. the trail head for the wonderland trail is there.
