Description
From the trailhead parking lot the trail climbs Russell hill, passes the Russell Hill shelter (.2 miles). It briefly descends into a small ravine then ascends gradually through a northern hardwood forest. The trail goes into a transition forest of spruce and white birch and ascends relatively steeply to the summit of Shrewsbury Peak where there are good views to the south and the east.

Directions to Hike
The trail starts at a parking lot on the CCC road 3.0 miles from east of north Shrewsbury and 3.5 miles west of Vt. Route 100. The CCC road leaves Vt. route 100 10.7 miles north of the junction of Vt. 100 and 103 and 3.1 miles south of the junction of Vt. 100 and US 4. The CCC road us not maintained in the winter.
