Description
We hike in from the confederate breastworks about 2 miles to Jerry's Run and set up camp there for the night. The next morning after breakfast we hike towards Ramseys draft along the run, an easy hike about 2 miles then we go north up along the right prong of the draft. This is the most strenuous section with 14-17 switchbacks across the draft as well as a good 1500'+ ascent but along the way you will go through some of the most beautiful virgin Hemlocks on the east coast. As you make your way up to hardscrabble knob, you will find Hiner spring where we refill our water bottles. We break for lunch there. After lunch and a quick look over the valley from the top of Hardscrabble knob we begin the hike home along the Mountain trail back to Jerrys run. Along the Mountain trail which is a fairly easy hike back to camp you will see some pretty views along several ridges. This is a 6-7 hour hike and worth every minute of it.
