Description
A moderate trail due to the elevation gain and length. The summit is enlcosed in trees, however, the quarter mile leading up to the summit is open fields with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge in Tennesse and North Carolina. If your lucky enough you might catch a glimpse of the wild horses that are known to roam in the pastures. This is a great day hike or even an overnighter. There is an AT shelter only a half mile from the summit.

Directions to Hike
Take 81 to Marion Virginia (southwest corner)*about 2 hours south of Roanoke* In Marion take 16 south past the Ranger Station and fish hatchery. There will be a small grocery store/restaurant on the right side of the road. At the store take a right on to route 603. Follow 603 for about 8 miles. The Mt. Rogers trail will be on the left hand side of the road.
