Description
Strenuous, primitive loop hike below the Peters Mountain Wilderness area, and Kelly Flats, near Pearisburg VA. Seldom hiked. Pristine creek valleys and fern fields. Most of trail is well marked, though the western segment is difficult to follow. This gorgeous, isolated area is worth the effort. You'll need the USGS "Interior VA 7.5' quad" map. Visit the website listed in "Contact" below for a complete description and detailed trail directions. Allow about 5 hours hiking time.

Directions to Hike
Take US 460 toward Pearisburg, VA to state route 635 (just east of the New River bridge near Ripplemead, VA). A
sign indicates "White Rocks Recreation Area." Travel east on SR635 approximately 12 miles to Glen Alton Road (SR722). Note
that 5 miles from US 460, SR635 makes a left hand turn. Follow SR722 for 0.15 miles. The right fork is a private road. Take the
left fork, marked "Kelly Flats Road." Pull beyond the gated road to the left and park, being careful not to block the gates.
