Description
We did this hike for a quick overnight. We got to a later start so we shortened it by a couple of miles by taking the piney river trail. There are some neat water holes along the river/creek and some are big enough to wade in and cool off. Tons of wildlife, and pretty buggy. Hard steep climb out.

Directions to Hike
Thornton's gap entrance to piney river cabin/ranger station #2; this is across from Mathew's Arm Campground. Trail head right off of parking area.
