Description
This hike starts out from the little ranching community called Park Valley. It follows a small creek called Indian Creek up an incredible mountain range that is actually part of the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Your hike will start from SR30 where Indian Creek goes under the road. Follow the dirt road keeping the creek in sight for approximately 7 miles up canyon. When the canyon splits, take the left hand draw. The road runs out after a couple more miles, and at this point, you will be climbing up a mountain side to the top of the range. Once at the top, there are several trails that intercept the top from different directions. Following the trail northwest, you will skirt around a series of cliffs. The highest point on this ridge is actually called Bull Mountain. Drop down off of this mountain on the northwest side, and continue down to the ridge just above Bull Lake, and the creek that follows down Bull Canyon to the bottom. My personal experience down this side of the mountain was in 2-3 feet of snow at the top and the north ridges, and we mistakenly followed the creek down the canyon. I would highly recommend instead following the ridge to the north of the creek to avoid much of the thick brush and trees that impeded our progress. Follow this ridge down to a meadow known as Bull Flat (the only flat thing I could see in miles) and just beyond that to the Clear Creek campground. We left a car at the campground, and had my wife drop us off at the beginning point of this hike. It was a two day hike with approximately 4500 feet of elevation gain to the top. DON'T attempt this trip without the proper 7.5 minute topos and a good compass or GPS. Much of it is off-trail. The vistas from the top are beautiful, but if you plan to camp there, make sure you have a good tent as it's usually quite windy up there. Oh, and the best part of this hike? Chances are slim that you'll see another person in the entire time you're there.

Directions to Hike
From Tremonton Utah, take I-84 west to Snowville, then follow SR-30 west to Park Valley.

To drop a vehicle at Clear Creek, leave SR-30 after approx. 25 miles and take SR-42 to Naf. Follow the signs to Clear Creek Campground. Again, don't do this without a good set of maps. It's a long way from anything, and there aren't many telephones.

Don't expect a lot of detailed information about this or any other hike in this region of the Sawtooths. It's quite detached from the main part of the range, and much of the surrounding area is private property owned or grazed by ranchers.
