Description
an easy day hike in the hill country above the pedernales river, through meadows & forest to an old grave site. the hike is best in spring or autumn although there is a river crossing at the beginning of the hike which can be interesting in the spring (we waded across with our daypacks over our heads, boots & clothes packed inside, & nearly got carried away).

Directions to Hike
pedernales falls state park is about 40 miles west of austin. take hwy 290 some 30 odd miles west to RM 3232, turn right to park entrance at the junction with RM 2766. the hike is at the back of the only car-campground in the park, the trail begins at the sign marked "river trail" (there is another hike to wolfe mtn. beginning one parking area earlier).

Contact Information
pedernales falls state park, route 1, box 450, johnson city, tx 78636. phone # (210)868-7304.
