Description
I live on Signal Mtn. and hike this trail as often as I can, The only bad thing about this trail is it doesn't permit overnight parking, but if you are determined to camp overnight you can go to the other end of the trail on Suck Creek Mtn. and start from there.
When I first started this trail my first thoughts, when I saw the wooden stairs, were this is going to be a ridiculously easy trail if it has wooden stairs ever time the going gets tough. I soon realized after getting passed the stairs that they were there only to protect the fragilness of the land. Once I made it to the bottom of the stairs and hiked out a little while I found many creek beds I had to hop across. When these are wet it can be very slippery, so I would advise anyone considering this to be very farmiliar with the traction of there shoes when taking this trail during the wet season. Considering the seasonal creeks you have to hop accross (and these aren't always narrow some are a good 8-15 feet wide but very shallow) and the occasional steep parts (there are some very rugged places to hike up, but they are followed by fairly flat hiking, or a nice deserved downhill trek.) this trail is fairly moderate hiking. I wouldn't recomend taking young children on it, because it has some very rugged parts that a careless child could tumble down and bluffs that a young child would most likely be fasinated with the ungaurded edge.

Oh yea and this trail is used a lot, but once you get on the trail you are pretty much isolated with the exception of passing people or being passed.

Directions to Hike
If you start in Chattanooga you can take Corrider J (27) (You can get here off of I-24) get off at the Signal Mtn. Blvd. Exit. From here you will drive towards Signal Mtn. (If you were going North you will just drive straight off the ramp if you are going south you will take a left.) This road will lead you up to the top of the Mtn. you will take the first left on top of the mountain that you come too. From there you will follow the brown signs that say Signal Point.
