Description
Parked at Point Park (Signal Mountain) and hiked through to the swinging bridge just past Mushroom Rock. Took my family (wife, two kids and a dog) on this hike. We started on Friday afternoon and camped overnight at Edwards Point Campsite (Lockhaven?) on some great raised platforms! The next day we hiked to Mushroom Rock and camped just down the hill at the swinging bridge. Some other really nice hikers camped nearby. My son enjoyed some fishing (small fish). The next day we pictured Biggy Cokes and hoofed it all the way back to Point Park to our car. We did the return trip in about 5 hours. However, this trail is tough. Many rocks, cutbacks and steep slopes. My wife fell four times and has scratches and bruses to proove it. Plenty of springs for water. Great views. Edwards point is somewhat dangerous I feel. We found bullet shells all over and many alcahol cans. Looks like a hangout during the night. Daytime it was completely empty however. There is an access road they come up (hey Rangers...how about closing that one off!) Definately a hard trail, but not too hard if you are alone, or in a small group. Be careful and watch the ground!

Directions to Hike
Follow U.S. 127 to the town of Signal Mountain and follow the directional signs to Signal Point National Park parking area.
