Perfect day hike for the in-eperienced hiker looking for something short and rewarding. House Mountain State Park offers a few different trails to chose from. The hike to the top is somewhat strenuos at times, but, once at the top of either the east or west summit, the views are tremendous. The west summit offers beautiful views of both the smomkeys and the cumberland plateau mountains, the east summit offers a perfect view of clinch mountain and the smokeys. Total hike time is about 3 hours, I highly reccomend this to those with dogs looking for something near downtown knoxville as it is just a 15-20 minute drive.

Directions to Hike
15 miles from downtown knoxville. take i-40 to rutledge pike/highway 11, exit 392, go ten miles and takea left on idumea dr. (spelling?), there\'s a sign on highway 11 just before the left turn directing you to the park entrance, go about a half mile on this road and another sign directs you to the road that leads to the parking lot where the trailheads are.
