Description
The variety of this 109-mile trail is amazing. It passes through prairie, vallley bottoms, timbered forest and past mountain views, many of which can only be seen from the trail. Interpretive signs along the way highlight the history of trail, which was once a railroad line, as well as the rich history of the Black Hills. It is a 109-mile multi-use trail, so hikers, bikers, cross-country skiiers and horseback riders all enjoy it year-round.

Directions to Hike
Trailheads are found periodically along the trail. Almost all offer parking, water and shelters. There are 14 trailheads in all, including in the towns of Edgemont, Custer,Pringle, Hill City, Rochford, Lead and Deadwood.
