Description
The Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood is one of the best 'around the mountain' hikes in the north Cascades. From blazing wildflower shows to wildly beautiful rugged scenery, the views keep changing as you make your way around the entire mountain.
Recommend 4 days, August is the best month. Some parts of trail still under snowpack in July and winter is moving back in again by October.
Elevation: high point is 7320 ft, low point 3200 ft, total loss & gain over entire trail 9000 ft.
Several stream crossings to negotiate. Wonderful hike!!!

Directions to Hike
From Portland drive east on Hwy 26 to Government Camp. Take turnoff to Timberline Lodge. Parking attendants can direct to the best overnight parking area. The trail is located above the historic Lodge.
