Trail is a little hard to follow, the trail markers are weather worn and take a little time to locate. dont know why but some markers are rather high in the trees. maybe placed there to prevent tampering, and easier for re-marking.?? The trail is steep at the start, the leaves make it slippery,and the trail at times take you very close to the edge. There is a nice flat rock that offers a very nice view of the arkansas river and wild horse mountain. After a rain there is a small water fall. On top of the mountain you will cross a communications tower road, turn right about 100 yds there is a rock quary,the water is cool especially after the steep climb. I dont recamend using the cable ,since it has been there for SEVERAL years. Hope you enjoy the hike, and remember, this is oklahoma and we have rattle snakes and copperheads, these are to be watched for, please pay attention !

Directions to Hike
from I-40 and oklahoma 59 S. head south approx 7 miles until you cross the arkansas river. take the first road to the right after crossing the river, this is the road leading to dam. Then take the first left, this is the old 59 highway, take the first right depending on the season you may need a 4-wheel drive, follow this dirt road toward the base of the mountain . There will be a small parking lot . The trail head is slightly to left across two railroad ties for a bridge. Its all up hill from there.
