Description
5 Ponds Wilderness area. Relatively flat hike (until the end) skirting a cove off Cranberry lake. Mostly forested trail, but some open stretches due to a recent blow down. Primitive camping, boat access, and a chance to swim at Janack's landing. Another primitive campsite closer to the base of the mountain, near a glacial pond. Steep climb to the open summit has great views of the whole area. Can extend the trip to do a loop (15 miles)around High Falls, can be muddy due to beaver dams.

Directions to Hike
Route 3, south of Cranberry lake. Trailhead access from the village of Wanakena.
