Description
This combination hike/horse trail begins
near the end of Spruceton Rd and for
1.75 miles is an easy and pleasant climb
From this trail sign to John Robb lean-to
the trail becomes steep and rocky.
There is an excellent spring and terrific
view just before you reach the lean-to.
Today (11/5) there was snow
from the lean-to to the top.
Some of the rocks on the trail were
ice coated. The trail levels off
near the top and an old fire tower
provides with excellent views. The trail is
wet near the top.

Directions to Hike
Take rt. 28 out of Kingston, NY
until you come to Shandaken. Turn right
on the 42 and take it to
rt. 6. Follow the signs
back to Spruceton and the
trail head parking.
