Description
Yes, this is a difficult hike. Better to go up Falling Waters because it is extremely steep and rocky. I just hiked this trail over Memorial Day Weekend and there was still snow and ice on the trail in the upper regions, making the going a wee bit difficult for about the last half mile.

HOWEVER, once you get to the ridge you will no longer feel the burning sensation in your thighs that was so prevalent on the way up. It is the classic ridge hike, one that I had always wanted to do. You can see for miles, even to Mount Washington to the northeast.

Definitely a great hike. On the way down you'll definitely want to stop at the hut/lodge for some coffee or tea.

One last reminder though that this is a REALLY difficult trail to hike. Come prepared.

Directions to Hike
Across from the Lafayette campground in Franconia Notch State Park, Interstate 93 in NH.
