Description
Good beginners trail with a variety of wildlife to include: bald eagles, alligators, otters, white-tail deer, black bear, and wild turkey. Begins along the Neuse River and travels through sandy beaches, cypress swamps and salt marshes. Best if hiked in the fall or early spring to avoid the snakes, heavy brush, and annoying insects. There are many roads that intersect so the trail can be shortened to fit your desired length.

Directions to Hike
From Hwy 70 turn left on to US 70 in Havelock. Go down about 6 miles and turn left on 306. Proceed down and follow signs to Pinecliff Recreation Area. The trailhead is clearly marked with a wooden sign.
