Description
The hike was nice although we did not go the entire distance. We went for a day hike. We started out from the POW Camp, with 2 dogs, and walked as far as we could for our time frame and then walked back. The portion of the trail we were on was very clear and open.
I do want to mention that there is a very large alligator in the POW Lake. That\'s something I always worry about with dogs, so I stood on the weir for a spell with my binoculars and sure enough, he emerged from below the duck houses. He slowly made his way around closer to my location. I would guess he was 8 - 10 feet. Which isn\'t huge but it ain\'t small neither.
I\'d like to go again when I have more time and do the whole trail.

As with any Southern hike, be aware of mosquitoes and snakes.

Directions to Hike
We traveled from Mobile, AL and avoided Interstates so...

We came West on Hwy 90. Turned North at Ocean Springs up toward Larue (609 - I think it\'s a county road). At Larue we turned left (West) on Larue Rd which dog-legged (left then right) into Bethel Road. The POW Camp is clearly marked on the North side of Bethel Road.
