Sections of the trail are open to horseback riding and Mountain biking. two thirds of the trail is cross country, however sections weave along country roads and pastors, with self closing gates. The moon loop section of the trail was given its name because at one time, soil erosion that occured in the 1930's caused hikers to think of the moon.
