Description
Very hilly, narrow loop. Starts out with gradual climb and gets steeper with crest overlooking the Mississippi River. Continues north along the river with spectacular views. Cliffs along river. Turns back west. Beautiful, with lots of mature trees. Breezy at top of cliffs. Part of Missouri wilderness area, although we didn't spot much wildlife. Able to watch barges traveling the river but it's not noisy at all. When you head back west, you can see the sunset.

Directions to Hike
From 1-55 South (if coming from St. Louis) turn left (east) onto Hwy 61. Follow 61 to Hwy 177. Turn right onto 177. Follow 177 to Proctor and Gamble; stay on 177 through the sharp right curve. The part will be on your left in about 2 - 3 miles. Take a sharp left into the park; follow the main road to the vistitors' center.
