Description
We did the George Crosby-Manitou State Park to Caribou River section of the trail. (Total trail is about 200 miles) We did an overnight, in and back out trip, but the Superior Shuttle will allow you to do one-way hikes. The terrain is rugged. The trail runs mainly along ridge tops above Lake Superior with many steep descents into valleys. Elevation changes only about 300 ft. but is usually over a relatively short distance. The rocky river gorges make for some spectacular waterfalls. Crosby-Manitou State Park is also a backpack only park for people looking for a shorter hike.

Directions to Hike
The Trail has many access points off Highway 61. To get to the section we did take 61 North from Duluth to MN Highway 1. HWY 1 runs to Finland where a sign directs you to County Rd. 7 for access to Crosby-Manitou.
