Description
This hike is a 42.7 mile circuit through a very untraveled landscape. My friend and I set out to do this, but due to lack of fresh water we decided to do it in only 2 days. Beautiful views, goes through the PawPaw tunnel and makes use of about 16 miles of the C&O Canal. Trails are not clear, had to backtrack a few times, and going clockwise(the way we went) is much more difficult. The guidebooks said you would cross "streams on towpaths" and "climb steeply." In reality, we had to wade across rivers and practically rock climb. On the trail there is no place to camp, unless you get lucky and end up at one of the three shelters that are set up at bad places for this hike. But after all is over, it was nice being so far away from everything. ***Note: Hike counterclockwise, the way they recommend***

Directions to Hike
From Frederick, take 70E and I68. It is at Green Ridge State park.
