Description
We went to Blue Hills Observatory in Milton, Ma. We took the Skyline loop trail (not sure why they call it a loop, it\\\'s not). It was pretty strenuous, considering everyone told me Blue HIlls was just a walk in the woods. I was glad, because we wanted to climb somewhat and that is just what this trail does.
It is nice too, because it levels off enough that it is definately not too strenuous, even for the novice hiker.
We entered where the \\\"Reservations Office\\\" was, there are numerous entrances, the park has 7000 acres!
It is very clean, nice paths and very good signs thruout. However, it is definitely recommended that you buy a map for $2.00 there. We stopped for a picnic lunch at one of the observatory towers about 1 & 1/2 Hours into our hike and it was just right. There are many ways to leave, if you are too tired to climb rocks and hills anymore, there are easy level paths thruout.
I definately recommend exploring this reservation, it is lovely.

Directions to Hike
From the North:
Take either Route 128/95 south or Route 93 south to the Route 138 exit in Canton (Exit 2). Follow Route 138 north approximately 1 mile north through one set of traffic lights to the Blue Hill Ski Area and Trailside Museum parking area on the right. Hiking trails lead to the summit of Great Blue Hill from these parking lots.
