Description
The northern portion of this trail follows a white sand filled ravine (a bayou). Quite a beautiful hike, tracing the bayou along the way.
There are a plethora of other trails in this portion of the Kisatchie National Forest.

The Wild Azalea trail is supposed to be beautiful in the spring when everything is in bloom. CHEERS!

Directions to Hike
I-49 until you are south of Natchitoches, LA, between Natchitoches and Alexandria. I think the exit is Cloutierville (but not positive). Go West off the exit and turn into the National forest on the road to the right that is marked. You will pass the longleaf vista trail exit first. Then you will see the carolyn dorman trail. It's on your left. Pull in and park. You can take the trail in either direction off from the parking lot. The 2nd entrance is across the main road from the parking area. Horses are welcome on this trail too so be willing to share.

You can also reach the Ntl forest from the other side. Hwy 117 to the Longleaf trail entrance. Down a long ways on your right you will see the entrance marked.
