Description
A nice afternoon jaunt through the wooded banks of Clinton Lake. The North Fork Trail begins very pleasantly on the east side of the lake. The last half, however, on the west side of the lake, is not so nice. Very thick and overgrown in spots (wear long pants), the trail rarely sees the lake. The trail is either 9.3 miles or 12 miles (depending on who you believe), but it took me about 4 hours to complete.

Directions to Hike
From Champaign. Take
74 west to Farmer City. Take 54 west for approximately 15 miles, through Dewitt. At the sign for Mascoutin State Recreation Area, make a left. This will lead to the park office where you can get a lousy map and yap with the ranger (useful). To get to the trail, head backto 54 and continue another mile or so until you read a stop light for the power plant. Take a right
here and follow the signs for the North Fork Boat Acess Area. The trail head is across the road from the NF Boat Access parking lot.
