Description
I have hiked the Garden of the Gods to Eddyville section of the River to River several times. This section of the trail cuts through Lusk Creek, one of the most scenic portions of the River to River trail and an excellent place to set up camp. Although the Lusk Creek section of the trail has been heavily impacted by horse travel in the recent past, it is still worth the visit. This is a great weekend trip. You can arrange a shuttle by contacting someone at www.rivertorivertrail.org.

Directions to Hike
Take Illinois 34 south from Harrisburg. Travel 16 miles to Karbers Ridge Blacktop and turn left. The road is well marked with signs for Garden of the Gods and Pounds Hollow. Travel three miles, then turn north onto Garden of the Gods Road. The parking area is two miles up the road. The wilderness area surrounds the public recreation area.
