Description
This is a truly unique place. When I first moved out to the Great Plains in 1998, I was stunned to find this sort of place. It reminded me a bit of the Allegheny Mountains in PA (where I grew up), but it also has some features that are all its own. Views are spectacular (particularly from the Badger Ridge and Westridge Trails {the latter will give you a good workout as well). The terrain hills, valleys, prairie, etc, is varied and beautiful.

Wildlife (particularly in the fall when hawks, eagles, and many other birds migrate over the place) is plentiful. Deer, turkeys, and coyotes are there year round.

Directions to Hike
Take I-680 North from Omaha (NE) and take the Crescent exit. Take Hwy 988 into Crescent. From Crescent take the Old Lincoln Hwy. north and watch for the Hitchcock Nature Area sign on the left.
