Description
Hiked from Three Forks to Toccoa River, stayed a day, and then back out. Definitely should be in good physical shape for this hike - especially if you plan on hiking the next few segments that follow. Our original plan was to hike through to Shallowford Bridge - but I was out of shape, another of our group was a novice, and another injured his knee during the trip. Nice views and very deserted once you veer off the AT (after the first mile or so). Be sure to stop and visit the falls on your way in. The Toccoa River campsite is especially nice. Just be aware that the rating of this section of the trail as "most difficult" by the BMTA is quite accurate.

Directions to Hike
Don't try to take FS 58 southbound to Three Forks - road is washed out and closed about 30 minutes down it. Must loop around Springer Mountain past the AT trailhead and approach via FS 58 northbound.
