Description
Plainville Section of the Metacomet Trail includes such notables as Medicine Rock, a stopping point on an old colonial wagon road where settlers would bring their sick in order that they be driven to hartford's hospitals, and an abandoned Nike missile base, which is a neat hike if you want to see how our nation defended itself during the cold war.
Over all this hike is fairly easy with many points to stop and take a look out over the Plainville / Bristol / Southington / and Farmington areas.

Directions to Hike
Hartford to I-84 West take Exit 34 Plainville. Right off of exit, left onto Metacomet Rd. At the top of Metacomet Rd the hiker will see a small pond on their left, trail head is to their right. Parking in street is not allowed, you must park up the street in a safe area, and walk to the trail head.
