Description
The trail climbs 4800 feet from trialhead to summit. The first 6 miles ascend to the treeline through Pine and Aspen forest where you will have an amazing view(s). The trail then follows to a very steep ledge system across the west side of the mountain. From the keyhole to the summit (14,255ft), that trail is marked with bullseyes. Recommendations of starting very early and getting off the peak by 1:00 to avoid the afternoon lightning storms are made frequently. The round trip takes about 14 hours. Get up early and enjoy the hike.

Directions to Hike
From Estes Park travel 9.2 miles on Hwy. 7 to the turnoff of Longs Peak Campground. Turn Right and the trail head is another 1 miles.
