Description
Trip starts with a ride up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and is well traveled. From the top of the tram station walk down the concrete path to the ranger station where you pick up your permit. From here you follow the trail 2 miles out to Round Valley (good water source), up 1 mile to Wellmans Divide (great views), then 2.5 more miles to the summit. Great views from the top in all directions; the Los Angeles Basin, Coachella Valley, Salton Sea, and deserts to the north. Return by the same trail. Summit is reported to be one of John Muir's favorite mountaintop views.

Directions to Hike
Head east out of Los Angeles area on I-10 towards Palm Springs/Indio. Take HWY 111 cutoff towards Palm Springs. At first traffic light turn right, giong up towards the mountains, and road ends at the tramway.
