Description
This is a moderately strenuous hike, with the good potential for a single overnight in either open land or a primitive campsite. The hike is between Laguna Mountain Recreation Area and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. The hike winds up through trees before dropping through great hills of chapperal. There was a good deal of wildlife, including deer, wild turkeys, and rattlesnakes. The only water is at the trailhead in Laguna, so bring all you can! 1250' climb, 2700' drop.

Directions to Hike
Take highway 8, east from San Diego to Rte. 79, North. Leave a car at the Green Valley Falls Campground, at about mile marker 4.6. The trail's end will be at the Sweetwater River bridge (mile marker 4.9). Proceed north in second car to Sunset Highway, and head southeast. Park at Penny Pines trailhead (mile marker 27.3), within 25 yards of the Pacific Crest Trail.
