Description
Start your hike at Horseshoe Medow. At the sign take the route to Cottonwood pass this takes you accros some fairly flat terain before you start the climb over Cottonwood pass. At the top of Cottonwwod pass about 4.5 miles you will connect with the pacific crest trail go to the right towards Chiken spring lake. This is a good camping spot for the first day. Day 2 keep going north on Pacific crest trail to the rock creek trail and New Army pass trail. This hike is mostly level or down hill, stock up on water as their is few spots if any to get water for this 6 mile walk. Once you reach the New Army Pass trail you can go over the pass or go to the left down to Rock Creek and spend the night at Rock Creek lake or at lower Soldier Lake. Good camping in either area. Day 3 Head out east over New Army Pass this is all up Hill but you should reach the Pass in about 2 hours. Stop at the top if its not Snowing or raining and take some pictures. From hear you continue down to Cottonwood lakes and camp for the night or continue on back to Horseshoe Medow as it is only 4.5 miles all down hill.
