Description
The longest leg is fairly level, but the entire trail is rocky. A short, steep side trip climbs 800' to an incredible 40-mile view in the direction of Mexico. Aside from the "moonscape" terrain, every conceivable variety of Sonoran Desert flora is found in this well protected area.

Directions to Hike
From Phoenix, take I-10 west to highway 85, then go south about 90 miles to the Visitor Center. From there, take the Ajo Mountain Drive to the trailhead at the Estes Canyon picnic area.
